Prior to the design of our Memorial at Freedom Lake Park, a scale model was made. Our current Pres., Clarence Dadswell, and a committee of three others {Chuck Dawson, George Carter & Joe Sheehan} worked to make the Memorial idea become a reality. To ensure members that it properly described their ideas of what the Memorial should contain all changes were agreed upon. Later on this model sat in our trailer for years gathering dust Etc.
A suggestion to find out if the city of Pinellas Park would be interested in the replica was made. The idea was to have it placed in their Historical Society at City Hall. It became a reality. This action met with approval of the Historical Society and Chapter 14. A committee was formed and 2nd Vice Pres. Everett DeWitt played the major part of communicating with all parties involved. Many meetings were attended, advice was presented and brought before the membership prior to anything being done. Tentative dates were set for the Dedication and this is still in discussion however a determined group of members moved the Memorial Replica to Pinellas Park City Hall recently.
We are fortunate to have our staff photographer Joe Sheehan back with us after a long illness and was available to provide us with the following photos.
