This page has additional Info. on those deceased from Chapter 14 KWVA
Sam Farina, Past President (two terms)
Sam was on the Honor Guard with KWVA 14, discharged from the Army as a Corporal. Stationed in Berlin, Germany with 16th Constabulary Unit, received Army Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was in Korea and received the Korean Service Ribbon and Meritorious Unit Commendation. {This Info. from wife Sue} Photos taken by Sam in Korea.
Laverne Maxwell, Bay Pines volunteer.
Laverne was more than just another volunteer at Bay Pines VAMC. She would be dressed as a clown and greet Vets at the modules, in the elevators or wherever she would see them. Her speciality was to visit each ward and bring a smile on the face to all. She never was too busy to say a few words or listen patiently to a Vet. I know she is missed by the nursing home patients as well as all whoever met her. {This Info. from Harold Macking, a former patient}
I don't know if anyone ever told you but Sam got sick one day when he was at Bay Pines volunteering and she made him go to emergency. Luckily she did cause his heart was acting up and he needed a pacemaker. I couldn't thank her enough for helping him. She was a good lady. From Sue Farina
