960 boxes of cookies sold & delivered. These kids WORKED HARD for IRAQ & BAY PINES VETERANS,

Wait 'till I'm older, I'll show 'em.

Leaders in every way!.
Vets and kids are number one for them.

On the 7th of May Chapter 14 KWVA became involved with the Girl Scouts Organization. A troop from St. Paul's Church with scout leader Mary Sinclair and assistants Kathy Schenato, Maddie Jourette and Linda Bowen made the event possible. The Girl Scouts were donating boxes of cookies valued at $960.00 to the patients at Bay Pines VAMC. To receive the cookies was Derenda McCook, Chief of Volunteer Services at Bay Pines.

The scouts had sold cookies to the public to be given to Veterans. Several cases were sent to Iraq and the remainder given to Bay Pines patients. The KWVA members helped bring in the cookies and answered many questions. A pleasant surprise was that one of the scouts was of Korean heritage and her comments about the Korean War were well understood and greatly appreciated by the KWVA members. Carence Dadswell, Gene Stone, Dennis Ruley, Joe Sheehan, Bob StClair & Harold Macking represented Ch. 14

Pres. Dadswell invited the scouts to our Memorial Day event at Freedom lake on the 26th of May. School will be closed, family picnics but I'm betting they'll be there.

The Girl Scouts help to the Vets at Bay Pines is greatly appreciated, a great organization of kids contributing their time & efforts to us older Vets.
